On Saturday 18 October 2025, the Canberra Kanpai & Canapés event debut at Manning Clark Hall, Australian National University.
This sophisticated celebration brings together more than 100 of Japan’s most celebrated sakes and fruit liqueurs, expertly paired with an endless flow of refined Japanese-inspired canapés — creating an elevated tasting journey unlike any other in the capital.
Guests will indulge in a 3-hour premium tasting featuring a curated selection of sakes and fruit liqueurs, each chosen for its exceptional quality and character. Guided by sake masters, sommeliers, and recognised Sake Samurai, attendees will explore the nuanced flavours, aromas, and stories behind each pour.
Every ticket includes a handcrafted artisan sake cup (ochoko) to take home, serving as a lasting keepsake. Selected bottles will be available for purchase (delivery only) for those wishing to continue their sake journey at home.
Throughout the session, guests will enjoy a continuous service of exquisite canapés designed to complement the sake selection.
Canberra Kanpai & Canapés invites guests to immerse themselves in a range of cultural experiences. Attendees can join intimate Sake 101 seminars, take part in a lively Sake Quiz Rally with prizes to win, and explore interactive sake description boards. The event also offers opportunities to meet Sake Samurai and expert sommeliers, providing deeper insight into the world of Japanese sake.
