Exclusive Japanese Sake Seminar & Trade Tasting Event in Brisbane for F&B Professionals 🫱‍🫲

Organised by the Japanese Government with support from JAMS.TV, this exclusive event is open to professionals in the food and beverage industry in Brisbane, including restaurant and bar owners, managers, chefs, and liquor retailers. Join us for an exciting day dedicated to the rich world of Japanese liquors, including sake, shochu, umeshu, gin, whiskey, RTD (ready-to-drink) beverages, and wine. The event will feature a comprehensive sake seminar and an industry trade tasting, showcasing the diverse potential of Japanese liquors. Gain valuable insights into their production, explore different varieties, and discover their food pairing possibilities—essential knowledge for enhancing your business offerings.

Sake Seminar

We are excited to welcome Kenji Miwa from Miwa Shuzo, a brewery specialising in nigorizake (cloudy sake and doburoku), which accounts for 90% of the sake they brew. Miwa Shuzo produces nigorizake that is exceptionally rich and full of rice flavour, crafted through a unique process that sets it apart from other brewers’ nigorizake. Joining him is Quentin Hanley, Director of Melbourne Sake, and ‘Sake Mistress’ Simone Maynard from Melbourne.

Learn the basics of sake, including its key ingredients and brewing process, along with a discussion on the Multiple Parallel Fermentation technique that sets sake apart. Discover different sake styles and the best food pairings for each, as well as how sake compares to wine in terms of food pairing, highlighting its acidity and ideal matches with various dishes. Enjoy a sake tasting experience, complete with expert guidance on pairing sake with non-Japanese foods. The event will also cover important tips on the serving of sake, including the proper vessels, temperature, storage, and selling techniques.

Trade Event

Following the Sake Seminar, attendees can enjoy a wonderful selection of sake and Japanese liquor, paired with a selection of dishes that highlight sake’s diverse food pairing capabilities.  Exhibitors will offer tastings of their products throughout the event.
